Metanoia

Twenty-twenty. The year Matthew and Katherine decided to turn things around and completely switch up their lives. It had been a few months since Shadowhunters had ended. After the show ended, Matthew decided to stay with Katherine for a couple of weeks but it turned out he had never left her side. They sold their old houses and bought one to live in together. Their new house was placed in New York. They had been settling down and not apllied for new acting roles. They needed some time to process everything that had happened. Katherine had lost the love of her life and Matthew los his best friend. They still hadn't heard from Dominic after all the time. It sucked but they needed to move on. "I am going to call my agency." Katherine heard Matthew say when he entered the living room.

"What changed your mind?" Katherine asked as she put her cup of coffee on the table in front of her. They decided not to work until they were fully moved on, so that when they were ready to get to work again, they were hundred percent devoted. Katherine could not imagine a day without Matthew anymore, they were always by each other's side.

"I just miss working," Matthew said as he sat down beside Katherine on the couch. "Do you want me to ask them for a job for you as well?" Matthew asked and Katherine smiled immediately. Whenever Matthew was up to something, he always wanted to include Katherine. Katherine laid her hand on his leg as she looked at him.

"When will you stop thinking of me?" Katherine asked softly. Matthew chuckled as he shook his head.

"We are inseperable, Katherine. Of course I will think of you." Matthew said as he looked at Katherine. She felt her heart flutter as she looked Matthew in is eyes, Dominic could use Matthew as an example of how a gentleman should be. Katherine thought of how her lives were a year ago and something came up in her mind.

"You never told me what happened between you and Esther." Katherine suddenyl said when she frowned softly. She hadn't heard Matthew talk about her ever since they moved to New York. She saw Matthew sigh softly as he looked away. She knew something had happened as he looked sad.

"It's a long story," Matthew said before he looked at Katherine again. He must had seen that Katherine would not drop the subject since he decided to explain it to her. "Basically, she could not bare the thought of us moving in together so she broke up with me." Matthew explained and Katherine immediately pulled him closer and hugged him.

"I am so sorry to hear that!" Katherine whispered softly. "Why didn't you tell me? I would have stopped you from moving in with me." Katherine said as she felt like she was the cause of it. She softly pulled away from him and she saw he was shaking his head.

"You needed me," Matthew said as he rubbed her arm. "I couldn't ditch you in the cold just like Dominic did." Matthew said before he looked her in the eyes. Katherine sighed softly as she shook her head.

"You are too good for this world, Daddario." Katherine said as she smiled softly. Matthew chuckled as he looked away.

"You kept me sane," Matthew said as he slowly looked at Katherine again. Katherine's eyes sparkled as she ehard what he said to her. "That's enough emotions for today, let's go do something." Matthew suddenly said as he stood up from the couch.

"Like what?" Katherine asked when she watched Matthew. He grabbed their shoes and coats before he ran out of the house on his bare feet. "You are crazy, Matthew!" Katherine yelled at him before she stood up and ran after him. She heard Matthew laugh as he got into the car. She followed him and sat down on the passenger's side. When he started driving, Katherine couldn't help but look at him. She noticed his happiness, how he enjoyed every moment instead of particular moments. She never believed in soulmates but now that she and Matthew were inseperable, she believed that he was her soulmate. They never had an argument, just discussions. They knew what the other was thinking most of the time which made them feel connected.

"Stop staring, it is scary." Matthew said while his eyes were still focused on the road. Katherine laughed as she shook her head but did look away.

"I was just thinking of how you could drive the car with your bare feet." She said as she was looking at the road as well. She heard Matthew chuckle and when she looked at him, she saw he was shaking his head with a smirk on his face.

"I thought you knew by now that I am a pro at everything." Matthew said in a cocky way. Katherine jokingly made it sound like she was gagging which made the two of them burst out in laughter. They were full of joy, taking the best out of life because they never knew when it would end.
